My Bird Has Taught Me

I hear the crickets at dusk now, I hear and see every bird that flys in our yard. So much to hear and see. My bird has taught me.

I feel the sun's rays when we are sitting outside. I smell the freshness of the rain. So much to feel. My bird has taught me.

When I see a butterfly, I wonder how long it has traveled, for me and my bird to see. It flutters so softly above our heads. So much to wonder about. My bird has taught me.

I feel the wind in my hair like the feathers on his back... Nature all around - and me and my bird, we see it all. So much to enjoy. My bird has taught me.

The wonderful greeting of "Hello" when I come home or the soft "bye-bye" when I leave, so much to say. My bird has taught me.

I've taught my bird some songs, some words, but he has taught me so much more than words can say. My bird has taught me, to be alive again and the real meaning of play!
